Born in Rome on 15TH august 1972, he began to paint at the age of 14. He discovered the potentiality of his Apple in 1998.
Damiano Calì is a talented digital artists, his images are artworks filled of depth and unusual artistic research. He is not famous or well known because he decided to stay at the margin of the artistic society, or lobby as he love to describe it.
His passion for classic antiquity, and expecially for the renaissance and baroque artists is evident; art historian himself he loves to re-design the concepts and the ideas of the paintings he studied because he's well conviced that the humans have not changed throughout the centuries. He's chose the medium of photography as an artform, looking at the great genius as J.P. Witkin, Jan Saudek and Dave McKean.
The moral themes and the complex simbolgies which are behind his works are accompanied by his unique style. Trasparency, dramatic treatment of the surfaces, mysterious spaces where ghostly people live and oniric mood.
how you inspire me sir...words cannot come close to describe how i adore your work...each picture, a spell...both dangerous and beautiful..."

"Damiano Calì is a great digital artist, he has a wonderful unique ability to see things as others do not, a surreal mind that floats into a thousand pieces, he uses the medium of photography as an art form that others do not, he can touch the senses, he is a classic...in the true sense of tradition, every picture he takes, he puts everything into it, lighting, the framing the compostion the detail...when you see the veriety of his works, you see someone who is in love, searching exploring...trying to cross into new lands..."

"Damiano's images are messages from the depth."

davvero complimenti.

What a sweet but short gallery you have here. Excellent work that really revives the area in which you live. I had the pleasure of visiting Rome and fell in love with the atmosphere and sculpture all around. It's so wonderful to see how you incorporate your influences into your style. Really you have an eye for beauty

The inspiration of this series came to my mind when i studied a beautiful series of beato angelico's fresco in florence. Hands in the fresco works like a retoric (?) passsion of christ; my work bring in consideration the passion in erotic way, like a moment of lose of self perception, when all the world come outside and all the body is recepting the sensual warmness of a caress.
